The iconic Rainforest World Music Festival marks its legendary return, featuring an international cast of world renowned performers never seen before in Sarawak. The annual three-day music festival celebrates the diversity of world music in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, with daytime music workshops, cultural displays, craft displays, food stalls, and main-stage evening concerts.
This year’s festival will be making a ‘physical’ comeback from 23rd to 25th June at Sarawak Cultural Village, Kuching. The festival’s line-up will feature a total of 199 musicians from 12 countries, across more than 3 continents to perform a diverse range of music genres.
Performers include Grammy Awards winner, ‘Gipsy Kings’ featuring Tonino Baliardo from France, ‘Big Mountain’ from Jamaica/USA, ‘Safi Theatre’ from Tanzania, ‘Rastak’ from Iran, ‘Fasylive’ from Maldives, ‘Afriquoi’ from the United Kingdom, ‘Chatusram’ from India, ‘Rizal Hadi & Folk’ from Indonesia and ‘Ethno Thai Fusion Sound Band’ from Thailand. The line-up will also include performers from Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The Rainforest World Music Festival (often abbreviated as RWMF) is an annual three-day music festival celebrating the diversity of world music, held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, with daytime music workshops, cultural displays, craft displays, food stalls, and main-stage evening concerts. Starting with only a few hundred people in the audience in 1998, the Festival has grown to an internationally recognized music festival, receiving awards among them as one of the Top 25 Best International Festivals awarded by Songlines Magazine for six consecutive years (2010 to 2015). The festival features a wide range of performances from traditional music, to world fusion and contemporary world music.

Fue una experiencia maravillosa asistir al festival de la selva tropical de este año con mis amigos. Aunque hacía calor, los organizadores estaban bien preparados y al final el calor no nos molestó mucho. Nos quedamos hasta casi la medianoche y también tuvimos una deliciosa cena local en el lugar. Definitivamente vendrá de nuevo después de unos años.
Gran experiencia complaciendo el festival de música. También tiene una amplia variedad de puestos emergentes que muestran artesanías locales, productos locales y permiten a los turistas conocer mejor esta hermosa tierra de Sarawak.
Fue una gran experiencia nuestra primera vez allí, asistimos a un taller allí y a un festival de música de dos días. Debido al miedo a las largas colas para el autobús lanzadera o a la imposibilidad de coger el autobús gratuito antes del acto final ambos días, tuvimos que saltarnos parte de los actos principales finales. El único comentario/retroalimentación fue que notamos que las recargas de agua estaban vacías muy temprano en la tarde en prácticamente todas las estaciones de agua durante ambos días y no se recargaron. Sin duda, esto debería mejorarse teniendo en cuenta que los organizadores recomendaron a los participantes que trajeran sus propias botellas de agua reutilizables para reducir el uso de plástico. De poco sirve si no hay agua potable para llenarlo.

El canje de boletos fue perfecto. Solo necesita mostrar el código qr del cupón del boleto. Todo estuvo genial. Se proporcionaron autobuses de enlace gratuitos desde la ciudad de Kuching hasta la Aldea Cultural. Los talleres, el mercado de arte, las actuaciones son increíbles. Me encantaría volver el año que viene.

Rwmf. Una experiencia. Aunque con el precio que pagas, no esperes baños limpios. Sucio. Muy sucia. Y el transporte hay que pagarlo. La alineación de artistas estuvo bien.

Nada realmente emocionante y solo pasaré buenos momentos con amigos. Las cosas/tix eran súper caras. ¿El organizador/el gobierno estatal está obteniendo ganancias de este evento?
