Kumamon Port Yashiro Yatsushiro Kumamoto Port is the reception center for cruise ships. There is a 2.7-hectare Kumamon theme park nearby. You can see various Kumamon statues, including the 6-meter-tall Big Kumamon and the 54-seat Kumamon Chorus.
Hisa Orange Railway This is a local line connecting Yatsushiro Station and Kawauchi Station in Kagoshima Prefecture. The scenery of the west coast of Kyushu seen through the train window is a superb view that can only be seen on this train.
Qiuquan Cave The total length of the limestone cave is approximately 4,800 meters. The largest limestone cave in Kyushu, it features beautiful pillars and stalagmites that were formed over 300 million years ago and are still growing today. There are two types of cave tour routes. One is the “normal route” that takes a leisurely 30-minute tour of the cave, and the other is the exploration route that requires walking down the 40-meter-high vertical cave entrance and other stairs.
Aoiaso Shrine This shrine was founded in 806 (the first year of Datong). The current shrine building was built between 1610 and 1613 in the early Edo period. In 2008, the main hall, cloister, enshrinement hall, worship hall, and tower gate were designated as national treasures. 90% of national and prefectural shrines and temple buildings in Kumamoto Prefecture are located in the Kuma area, so this shrine is considered a representative example. It has become like this.
