【Takato Castle Park】 The cherry blossoms in “Takato Castle Park” located in Nagano Prefecture are not only one of Japan’s top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots, but also have the title of “the best cherry blossoms in the world”! Currently, there are about 1,500 special varieties of cherry blossoms called “Takato Kohigan” in the park, which are endemic to the area! Compared with the common Yoshino cherry blossoms, the flower buds are smaller but have a stronger pink color. When the entire park blooms, the park will be dyed with a bright red color, making it like a fairyland! ※Flowering period in previous years: early April to mid-April
【Hida Takayama Old Town】 Takayama Old Street is a famous ancient castle town in Japan. It once prospered as a merchant town. In particular, the three main streets of Kamimachi and Shitamachi are called “ancient neighborhoods”. Strolling along these streets, you can admire the continuous lattice buildings, water channels flowing under the eaves, and brewing houses with “Sake Forest” signs made of cedar leaves, showing a strong traditional atmosphere. These ancient buildings and shops are full of traces of history and are symbols of the history and culture of Takayama City.
【Takayama Festival】 The two traditional festivals held in Gifu Prefecture in spring and autumn are collectively called the “Takayama Matsuri”. Together with Kyoto’s Gion Matsuri and Chichibu’s Night Matsuri, it is one of the “Three Greatest Festivals in Japan” and has a long history of more than 400 years. ※Spring Sanno Festival: held every April 14th and 15th
【Magome-juku】 Located at the entrance of Kiso Road surrounded by high mountains and ridges, this ancient road was once one of the important traffic arteries connecting Edo and Kyoto. Because it has completely preserved the natural and historical features of the ancient road, it makes people feel like they are in the Edo period. It is also called “The Way of the Samurai”
【Shirakawa-go Gassho Village】 Located in the Hida region of Japan, it is a village known as the “Secret Land of Japan” and is famous for its unique Gassho-zukuri architecture. This group of traditional buildings was designated as an important preservation area for traditional buildings in 1976, and in 1995, it was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List along with Mount Goka in Toyama Prefecture. Shirakawa-go not only shows the original landscape of Japan’s countryside, but also retains its profound rural culture and lifestyle, and is known as “Japan’s original hometown”
