Aso Shrine is an ancient shrine with a history of 2,500 years. Walking down the streets of Ichinomiya-machi Palace in Aso City, the first thing that catches your eye is the main gate of Aso Shrine. The shrine enshrines the founder of Aso, Takewa Ryuumei (who is said to be the grandson of Emperor Jimmu) and twelve other gods. Aso Shrine was the only official shrine in the prefecture before the World War. There are 461 Fengzhai shrines in the prefecture that worship the gods, and they are all over the Kanto and Northeastern areas. On the "horizontal shrine" parallel to the shrine, a wooden sword with a dragon pattern carved on it is enshrined on the door. It is said that as long as you pass through the gate of the building, the dragon incarnated as Jian Pan's dragon will cut off all disasters. A series of agricultural festivals such as the "Oden Matsuri" and "Tami Matsuri" are held in the background of the shrine. In 1982 (Showa 57), the country designated it as an important intangible folk cultural property.
Daikanbo Peak is one of the peaks of the Kitaiwairin Mountains located to the northeast of Uchimaki Hot Spring. This is the best viewing spot in Mount Aso, offering a 360-degree panoramic view. You can see the streets of Aso, the Five Sacred Mountains of Aso, and the Kuju Mountain Range at a glance. The Aso Five Mountains seen from here resemble a lying Buddha, so it is called the “Nirvana Image”. From autumn to winter, if you are lucky, you may encounter the sea of clouds.
Kurokawa Hot Spring Kurokawa Hot Spring is one of the most popular hot springs in the country, located in a mountainous area 700 meters above sea level. There are cave baths, etc., and each hotel has a carefully designed open-air bath. You can freely enjoy various open-air baths by purchasing a bathing hand shape, and you can visit the hot spring town and take a walk in your free time.

Aso Shrine has a history of approximately 2,300 years and is popular as a shrine for praying for marriage and longevity. The shrine, tower gate and other buildings are important cultural properties of Japan.

Kurokawa Onsen was awarded two stars in the 2009 Michelin Green Guide Japan and is a hot spring town famous for its beautiful natural scenery that changes with the seasons and its abundant hot springs.

You have about 1 hour and 30 minutes of free time in the hot spring town, where you can take a leisurely bath or walk

Daikanbo Peak is Aso’s representative attraction. From here, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Aso City, the Aso Five Mountains, and the Kuju Mountains.
