The hotel was just lovely. It's well maintained and beautifully located just 4 minutes walk from the train station and 10 minutes walk to York Minster. Check in was smooth and seamless. The staff are superb. Nigel, our concierge was knowledgeable, patient and helpful with excellent suggestions. Our room was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable with a true (American) king size bed and air conditioning! Lots of closet space (3 in fact). The bathroom was nicely sized with a large tub/shower. The housekeeping staff are wonderful. We ate breakfast once (large buffet with made to order eggs benedict, waffles, etc) and also ate dinner one night in the bar which is lovely. Would be delighted to return.

Wow true to the name Grand.. Had a Grand stay with my wife. What an absolute cracking breakfast and the room is well nice (Just needs a good dust In some areas). The staff are all warm and welcoming. The spa is fantastic , by far the best spa I've been to

Solo stay

This hotel is wonderful, including the dining at The Rise. One note - the jazz night that happens once per month is NOT really jazz. It’s just a guy singing over instrumental Frank Sinatra and the like. Don’t plan on live music. Not to take away from the nice ambience, it’s just misrepresented on their website.

Room location was not easy to navigate (in a separate building) upon check-in, but staff helped us find it. Great hotel location to the train station. Breakfast buffet was excellent.

Housekeeping very professional, staff always gave a friendly greeting as they went about their duties. We are not generally early big breakfast eaters, but the choices were amazing and irresistible.
