Great The Ashley is a budget hotel and all things considered was a nice property for what we paid.
The biggest pluses were on-site parking and a great full breakfast being included.
Whilst we appreciated being on ground level (room 1) for convenience it did come with draw backs - we were next to the front door and stairs so could hear anyone coming/going (but didn’t stop us from sleeping).
Our mattress wasn’t great; we kept rolling to the middle and it was uncomfortable. Also the windows didn’t open so we lacked fresh air and it made the room quite hot (England is in a heat wave atm).
Staff were friendly and helpful, a small supermarket across the road (though we had no fridge) and pubs/dining and parks are close by.

GreatSolo stay
Lovely little place and would stay again. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was lovely. Only thing I would say is need air-conditioning or fan as room was very hot. And no toiletries in bathroom

Warm welcome from friendly staff, private parking, spotless bathroom with good size white towels and comfortable bed.
Decent breakfast including cereals, cakes and cooked.
Building itself needs a lick of paint and some updating.

The Ashley is good value for money, as such I was bordering on giving it an “excellent” rating, but it’s beginning to look very slightly tired in places. However don’t take this comment as a major criticism, it’s clean, it’s very close to town with a short walk over the footbridge and Jesus Green. We’ve been using the Ashley and its sister hotel The Arundel for 35 years during our jaunts to Cambridge and happy to continue doing so. A major plus at the Ashley is free parking and they’re thankfully flexible if you want to make the best of your last morning by leaving the car a short time after checking out.

The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent. There was only one member of staff, Jan, who served breakfast and cleaned the rooms. She was very friendly and helpful. Loads of room for free parking. The only negative was that we were in a ground floor room and we could not open the windows! It was 33 degrees outside and was so hot in the room. Jan did bring us a fan that helped slightly. She explained that people were going out and leaving the windows open. So if you are going to book, then ask for an upstairs room.

Hotel with parking a 15/ 20 minute walk through a park into the centre of Cambridge, on a fairly busy road but plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, staff friendly, hotel is due for refurbishment , lots of stairs so wouldn’t recommend for anyone with mobility issues
