GreatSolo stay
Food wasn’t very good I order burger and chips burger was over cooked and on the dry side, the chips were cremated.
Breakfast was good, staff were great and a lovely quaint place to stay. Will stay again just not sure sure about using the restaurant.

Below averageStayed with partner
The Broomhall Castle Hotel has been quite a grand place to stay at some time in the past but now requires maintenance and updating to bring it back to its former glory. The room was reasonable and we were repeatedly told of new owners and work in progress to update/repair things but then in the restaurant we sat on the odd chair with loose legs, or carefully used the en-suite toilet that moved beneath you, and had to hold up the shower head so that is wet something more than the wall behind it.
The staff in general did what they could to be helpful but seemed to be a bit thin on the ground and had too many responsibilities that could not all be attended to simultaneously.
One member of staff generously warned us of a wedding celebration on our last evening but wrongly assured us the noise does not really affect the rooms. They were very much mistaken and after a period of enduring the noise levels, enquires were made as to the possibility of moving rooms. Very fortunately we were shown another room by someone who was introduced as a manager who apologised for the previous assurances as it was well known there were at least two rooms always badly affected by the noise. The only room we could move to had a heating problem that was waiting on a plumber to fix it but the heat was more bearable than the noise so we moved and did what could be done to cool the room.
Be good to think the repairs can be done quickly and competently because this place could be so much more.

GreatStayed with kids
Property was nice. Staff were very nice and seemed to be working hard to manage things. Some little things, like a quite dirty wardrobe, could be better. The rooms were nice but have the potential to be spectacular with a little creative and artistic effort.

FantasticStayed with friends
Broomhall Castle was a unique experience. We left our window open due to a need for ventilation, but we returned to find dirt on our bedspread. The next day, we returned from our outing to find that a packaged cake we had left on the dresser was missing. There is lore of ghosts in the castle or maybe a bird or squirrel came in through the window, but each of these events left us puzzled. The facility and amenities were comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the restaurant and the bar. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, although there was not a regular attendant at the front desk to address questions. There were a number of stairs to climb, which was difficult with luggage.

GoodStayed with family · For friends and family
The twin room, room 6 , was very basic with old carpet, no decorations, poor quality furniture, an adequate bathroom, noisy floorboards but mattresses were comfortable. Bedding was clean.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
We were considering a second night stay but left after 1 night.
We would not recommend room 6 to anyone. Perhaps the other rooms are an improvement.
