1st prize winner of the 2021 Menuhin International Violin Competition Keila Wakao returns to Singapore to play Barber’s gorgeous Violin concerto with re:Sound.
Conceived in 1939, the most glorious year of American cinema, the concerto’s score is cinematic, embodying the ideals of grace, beauty and passion of the silver screen.
Featured also on the programme is Barber’s intensely stirring Adagio for Strings, as well as Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No. 7, composed by a young Felix Mendelssohn, who was already demonstrating his genius in counterpoint and orchestration.

About the organizer
re:Sound is a chamber orchestra in Singapore, which was formed in 2016 and has presented concerts with music ranging from the early baroque to the 21st century, including new commissions.
The many guest artists who have performed with the company include violinists Enrico Onofri, Pavlo Beznosiuk, Igor Yuzefovich, Ike See, Mark Gothóni, and Kam Ning, cellists Ng Pei-Sian and Yuko Miyagawa, pianists Melvyn Tan, Dennis Lee, Lim Yan and Koh Jia Hwei, toy pianist Margaret Leng Tan, tenor Thomas Ruud, the Nidaros Cathedral Male Choir, as well as conductors Bjørn Moe, Ralf Gothóni, Jason Lai and Lim Soon Lee.
re:Sound presents an average of four concerts a year and collaborates with top Singaporean and international soloists and chamber orchestra leaders, enriching the classical music landscape with quality performances.
