About the event
Conceived by Singapore Music Artist Safuan Johari in collaboration with Māori Choreographer Eddie Elliot, SUARA: HARVESTING VOICES is an imaginative exploration of fragmented voices from a post-Anthropocene future.
This uniquely collaborative performance features original compositions and choreography, with a diverse choral unit, electronic and string music, and New Zealand dance artists. Drawing inspiration from harvest rituals and traditions across Southeast Asia and Māori culture, the show envisions a world where nature has reclaimed its space, and echoes of voices long past resurface to shape a new epoch. Join us to experience a moving fusion of ancient wisdom and futuristic storytelling, journeying through time and sound.

SIFA 2024: THE ANATOMY OF PERFORMANCE - THEY DECLARE
By intertwining the threads of ecological harmony and diverse voices, SIFA 2024 homes in on an evocative pronouncement They declare - an invitation to take in other voices, existences and geologies, human and other-than-human, recognising our co-existence with the natural environment and making space for different beliefs and ways of being.
