About the event

Join Philharmonic Wind Orchestra on 24 March for an evening of Belgian music, presented in partnership with the Embassy of Belgium in Singapore and the Delegation of the European Union to Singapore.

Led by Maestro Robert Casteels, PWO will bring you a truly exciting programme of music from Belgium, ranging from vintage wind repertoire to popular songs and contemporary creations. This concert features the Singapore premiere of From Ancient Times by internationally acclaimed Belgian composer Jan Van der Roost, and culminates in the world premiere of Symphony nr 6 by Belgium-born Singaporean composer and conductor Robert Casteels. Also joining us on stage are solo soprano Tanya Sen, who will be singing five songs from Belgium in French and Flemish arranged specially for this occasion, and solo trombonist Sam Armstrong performing Colors for trombone and band by Bert Appermont.

About the organizer

Comprising over 150 highly skilled volunteer musicians, Philharmonic Wind Orchestra (PWO) was founded in 2022 to continue the legacy of The Philharmonic Winds and Philharmonic Youth Winds. Led by Music Director Maestro Leonard Tan, PWO continues its long-standing artistic mission of advancing wind music in Singapore, at the same time expanding its outreach to all segments of the Singaporean community.
