Art Beyond Boundaries｜A Collaborative Exhibition featuring Fapopo & Sai Kit Introduction

The Park Lane Hong Kong, a Pullman Hotel, is proud to celebrate its 50th anniversary with the launch of a unique and inclusive art initiative, “Art Beyond Boundaries.” In a meaningful collaboration with the Fu Hong Society and 13A New Street Gallery, this exhibition stands as an affirmation of the hotel's enduring dedication to fostering community ties, celebrating cultural richness, and supporting the vibrant world of the arts.

“Art Beyond Boundaries” will be held from 10th January to 1st May 2024 and will feature over 31 pieces of artwork from local artists Fapopo & Sai Kit, whose lives and artistic journeys challenge and redefine the concept of boundaries.

Throughout the exhibition period, guests will have the opportunity to purchase these art pieces as well as the cookies from Madam Hong’s Bakery from Fu Hong Society at Ebb & Flow, all sales of Sai Kit’s art pieces and cookies, after deducting the cost, will be donated to the Fu Hong Society to support their work in promoting inclusion and enhancing the well-being of individuals with disabilities.

About the Artist

Fapopo

Fapopo began to learn painting by herself at the age of 80. Fapopo's artistic attainments are like the Hong Kong version of Yayoi Kusama. She likes painting as the medium of painting, and can still keep the feeling of bright as new even after the outdoor wind and rain. Fapopo was deeply interested in painting when she was 7 years old, but she has been unable to develop her interest organically due to the family economic environment. Until retirement, the pace of life began to slow down. In 2014, she held a personal exhibition list in the mall. This is the first time that Fapopo exhibited her works in the gallery as an artist. Fapopo’s style of painting with a sense of time and bold and bright colors, and she painted on different vessels in an unconventional way. The works are full of memories!

Sai Kit

Sai Kit is a talented artist with moderate intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. He adores spinning spoons and observing change's fleeting moments. With a heightened sensitivity to light, Sai Kit enjoys capturing the ever-changing moments of life. He specializes in creating artwork using spoons, showcasing strong and bold lines with a daring approach to color. Observing the details of everyday life provides Sai Kit with inspiration for his creations.

Sai Kit's abilities are appreciated and explored. A youth hostel selected his artworks to be displayed in an Artisan Room, allowing visitors to enjoy his creativity. In 2022, Sai Kit held his first solo art exhibition at a cafe that featured his works on nature.

Sai Kit is a service user at Fu Hong Society Leung King Adult Training Center. Fu Hong Societyis a tax-exempt organization under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. The Society strives to advocate and provide appropriate rehabilitation services to enable people with disabilities to fully develop their potential.
