Colourful Chamber Music Masterworks for Strings and Winds

The Bavarian State Orchestra is one of the oldest and most revered classical ensembles in the world, celebrating its 500th anniversary in 2023. Esteemed conductors have shaped the orchestra throughout its long history, including such illustrious personalities as Richard Strauss, Sir Georg Solti and Zubin Mehta. In 2023, the ensemble was voted “Orchestra of the Year” for the ninth time running by Opernwelt magazine.

Eight elite musicians from the orchestra have come together to form a dedicated chamber ensemble. Impressive soloists in their own right, they unite to perform infrequently heard masterworks including Nielsen’s light-hearted Serenata in vano (Serenade in Vain) and the passionate first movement Quartettsatz from Schubert’s intended string quartet No 12. Schubert’s magnificent Octet in F Major provides the crowning conclusion to a sparkling and intimate evening of musical brilliance.
