Caspian | Concert Information

In the pantheon of post-rock music, Massachusetts band Caspian have cemented themselves a spot with their textured, emotionally potent compositions. Produced over two decades, their discography encapsulates the sonic possibilities that instrumental post-rock can offer—euphoric soundscapes; aggressive and distortion-heavy walls-of-sound; quietly delicate melodies—sometimes all found within a single song.

While their acclaimed 2015 album Dust and Disquiet was a deeply personal meditation on loss and grief, the band’s most recent record On Circles (2020) presents itself as an existential exploration on the cyclical nature of music-making and life itself, reflected through the meandering and circular paths taken by each composition. In the words of guitarist and keyboardist Philip Jamieson, “Life isn’t a series of epic crescendos.”

Nearly 10 years since their performance at Mosaic Music Festival, Caspian returns to Singapore at Esplanade’s newest venue, the Singtel Waterfront Theatre. This is a chance for dedicated old-timers and new fans alike to experience Caspian’s cathartic and transcendent live shows in one night of mesmerising post-rock.
