13a New Street Art Gallery will present the "Made in Japan" group exhibition from May 5th to May 21st, showcasing over 34 artworks. During the spring season, Japan is filled with cherry blossoms that symbolize vitality, capturing the world's attention with its unique charm and exploratory spirit. This time, 13a New Street Art Gallery brings this Japanese style to the gallery, blending the aesthetics with contemporary trends to create a distinctive art style full of "genki!" (energy in Japanese). With the arrival of early summer, 13a New Street Art Gallery hopes to bring this "genki" atmosphere of Japan to the community. Works by four artists from Tokyo, including Kabekui, Mami Mog, Mameko Maeda & Yeka Haski, will be featured in the gallery, each with their own unique style, just like the diverse and trendy city of Tokyo.

Kabekui’s Artwork Style

Kabekui's art style is influenced by Japanese manga and anime, and his works often contain powerful messages. He presents an imagery of "unsolvable things" in his works, with lines intertwining and creating complex patterns. This reflects his determination to overcome obstacles in his life and the idea that the trajectory of life's energy is everywhere and nowhere.

Mameko Maeda’s Artwork Style

Mameko Maeda is influenced by modern dance and jazz dance, and when she dances, she pays attention to the movements of her body, which expands and contracts. She particularly links her dance interests with her art. Her works depict characters she creates that transform into animals. When creating these works, she considers how we would embody the characteristics of animals with our bodies. The regal and majestic images in her art reflect Mameko Maeda's desire for people to “love myself and gain freedom without worrying about what others think of me.”

Mami Mog has loved drawing since she was a child, imitating cartoon characters and creating her own manga. Her artwork style is highly influenced by Japanese anime and manga, featuring a magical and childlike quality that is both charming and captivating. Her signature style includes a soft, pastel color palette and iconic large, sparkling, watery eyes, which are an essential part of the soul of her art.

Yeka Haski’s Artwork Style

Yeka’s art style is characterized by a unique blend of vibrant colors, clean lines, and distorted shapes, all brought together by a love for imaginary characters. At the center of her creative universe is the mysterious black bunny called Michi, who has become a beloved mascot of sorts for Yeka’s artwork.
