Best Place Map Series | Solo Exhibition of Qi-Heng Xiao Information

Emerging Taiwanese artist, Qi-Heng Xiao Born in Changhua in 1991. He graduated from the Graduate Institute of Art and Design, National Tsing Hua University, and now lives and works in Kaohsiung. He was awarded the 3rd Grand View Emerging Artists Award in 2016, the Kaohsiung Award in 2022 and 2018, and the Taipei Art Awards in 2019. He has exhibited in the Sato Museum of Art in Tokyo, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Kaohsiung Fine Arts Museum and other art museums as well as art spaces. His mostly works in painting, presenting creative imaginations inspired by daily life experiences. The depiction of external scenes or spaces in his works largely incorporates personal subjective impressions or feelings, and becomes a combination of reality and imagination.

Qi-Heng Xiao's new solo exhibition “Best Place Map Series” presents his oil paintings created in 2022. The “Best Place Map” series exhibited at the show, as well as the anima-inspired concept of "best place" behind the works, can be regarded as an identity-searching journey that Xiao, a contemporary artist of the younger generations in Taiwan, embarked upon from his singular point of view. Through his own life experience, cultural background, and events, Xiao cross-referenced his notes and the scenery he observed and selected his "best place," compiling his selection of the best places on the Internet.
