Warm up It's Summer | Dance Season 2023-24 Introduction

We continue our journey: a cycle of growth. Movement is life, a Beginning, an Ending, a Transition, a Story.

I feel a sea of emotions as I think about the idea of ‘It’s Summer!’. Summer is usually a time of vacation where families travel for holiday and it is a break in the middle of the year in transition from spring to autumn. There is a bigger idea of ‘travel’ and ‘journey’. It makes me think of the choices we make, the directions we go in – some we choose – some are chosen for us – some we have no control over. Journey is a key theme for me as I think about this year’s pieces, whether it is the journey of the dead, the journey of a life cycle, the journey of human relationships or the journey of a transition from one place to another. Does a physical journey imply an emotional transition?

I hope you will enjoy this year of Summer.
