About the event
I Am What I Am – A tribute to Leslie Cheung | Concert Introduction

A multimedia tribute to Hong Kong legend Leslie Cheung arranged and performed by local music artist Daniel Chu with vocalists Janice Vidal and Walter Kwan
Twenty years after his death, legendary Hong Kong actor and performer Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing – known for pioneering gay and androgenous roles in Wong Kar-wai’s film Happy Together, Stanley Kwan’s Rouge and Chen Kai-ge’s Farewell My Concubine – remains one of Hong Kong’s most enduring queer icons.
In a multimedia tribute blending music and memories, local music artist Daniel Chu, and vocalists Janice Vidal and Walter Kwan, revisit influential moments in Cheung’s genderfluid artistic career. Arranged and performed by music director Chu, the tribute includes classic songs such as Chase and I Am What I Am, and honours a seductive, flamboyant, enigmatic star who left this world much too soon.
