Monster Mayhem: One Step Beyond | Distort Monsters Solo Exhibition Introduction

The cute and funny monster is visiting 13A New Street Art Gallery this summer, a series of monster characters created by artist Distort Monsters. This time, he brought the Hong Kong audience the second wave of “One Step Beyond” in the Monster Mayhem series. The monsters each have lively expressions and unique appearance, which makes people unexpectedly look forward to the true face of these funny creatures. In this collection of works, artists take aliens, robots, deep-sea creatures, etc. as the blueprint of creation, and their own stories give each monster a unique soul. Distort monsters once said that every monster he created was an idea in his mind and even his own feelings. In this way, the whole series, each creation is a small fragment of his life. Through his paintings, he captures those plots that can touch him in an instant, and seals the heat of life in his works, so that a moment of fireworks in life will not be fleeting.

Distort monsters, an emotional artist from the Philippines, began his street art career in 2009. He started his art career by painting skateboard stickers, and he was having issues with his mental health for a long time, and what accompanied him was artistic creation. He liberated himself by creating these monster characters, found his inner peace, and was cured from art. Recently, the monsters he created obviously have more different forms than before, with bright and powerful color contrast, and the overall picture is happy, lively and energetic. This change is the positive impact of the good medicine of artistic creation. People can influence life with life, and art can nourish the soul. Distort monsters shows the playful feeling of a big boy with powerful lines and street graffiti style. Coupled with strong color contrast, it is very attractive to the audience. It is worth noting that some of the paintings are composed of three-dimensional dots and lines, highlighting the outline of the monster. This time, in addition to the exhibition of physical paintings, distort monsters introduced his monster mayhem into the metaverse. He hopes that through this NFT project, art and technology will become borderless, and NFT can be used as the backbone of physical and digital works. Each work will be equipped with an NFT, which breaks through the boundary of 2D NFT and turns the artwork of the metaverse into 3D.
