Fantastic 5.0
The 3-day tour of the Scottish Highlands, Isle of Skye, and Loch Ness was absolutely wonderful! Our Flix guide was professional and friendly, providing detailed explanations of the attractions, history, and Scottish culture along the way, and also thoughtfully looking after everyone. We enjoyed magnificent mountain views, lakes, and castles throughout the journey. The itinerary was rich and unforgettable, making it a highly recommended trip!

The areas that we went to and nature was beautiful too. The drive felt safe and I was also able to appreciate the scenery along the way .

Our tourguide Callum is so impressive! He was a very safe driver, a podcaster, a DJ, and a tourguide all in 1 as he drove us through the highlands. While the weather was foggy and that meant that some of the scenery were not the clearest - that's also the beauty of the Scottish Highlands, is it not?;)

Fantastic 5.0
A delightful tour, long but not tiring or boring. All locations were managed according to plan, and we even had an extra visit at the end to see the Hairy Coos again, as we were too busy shopping to take photos at the beginning of the tour. The price was quite competitive, and the tour team was professional. A good experience.

Fantastic 5.0
We took the one-day tour in early April and enjoyed perfect weather with almost no rain. Our tour guide (Karen) was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond by bringing us to many scenic photo spots, definitely more than the itinerary suggested. Karen also shared engaging background stories about the attractions and the highlands, which gave us a deeper understanding and made us fall even more in love with the place. Overall excellent experience — great value, beautiful scenery, and an outstanding guide. Thank you!

Fantastic 5.0
Starting from the canal, with a stopover at the castle, this comfortable cruise boat offers captivating guided commentary while you admire the magnificent views of Loch Ness. It's a very relaxing sightseeing activity. It would be even better if the activity included time for a castle tour.

What to know before visiting Inverness

Top experiences overview

Inverness is best known for its guided Tours, which account for the lion’s share of bookings, followed by smaller numbers of Cruises and a handful of Attraction passes. Demand builds through spring and early summer, peaks in October, then drifts down into the quieter late-winter months.

Activities by traveller type

Families will find Tours appealing for easy, organised access to sights and storytelling that suits all ages, while short Cruises offer a gentle, sit-back option if water views are on the list. Couples can choose from a mix of scenic Tours for shared experiences or intimate Cruising for relaxed sightseeing. Solo travellers and small groups will appreciate the variety within Tours — they offer flexible group sizes and the widest range of options.

What travellers from the United States book ahead

Most travellers here keep plans fairly flexible — many activities can be arranged a day or two before, though the earliest planners often reserve about 37 days in advance. Booking ahead matters most in the October peak months, when demand is noticeably higher.

Category comparison

Attraction passes are the easiest entry point price-wise, representing the lowest median cost and a straightforward way to see multiple spots. Cruises sit above passes but remain relatively modest in price and suit those after a relaxed, scenic experience. Tours are the priciest on average and also show the widest spread of options, covering budget to premium choices and therefore suiting families, couples and solo travellers looking for anything from basic guided trips to higher-end private or specialised excursions.
