Reviews summaryFirst of all, this trip is definitely worth the bucks! There were multiple stops including the windmill, cheese factory, Edam, Volendam & Marken Tour. Personally found that the time in the windmill area was extremely tight, after a few photoshoot we barely had anytime to visit the stores, however places like Edam & Marken Tour I found it a little waste of time as the tour guide stopped and share historic moments in these areas, some of the explanations could’ve been done in the bus ride to reduce time in those area, which were pretty dull. Volendam was an interesting area where we had our lunch recommended by the guide, also more time could be allocated here but overall it was still pleasant. The cheese factory had a nice Dutch Lady sharing how the cheese was processed, there were a good range of cheese for purchase afterward. highly recommended
This tour exceeded all our expectations, and a big part of that was our amazing guide, Holly. She didn’t just introduce the attractions themselves, but went much deeper—sharing the historical background, cultural context, and everyday stories behind Dutch history, including details about local life, traditions, and even food like cheese and butter. As foreign visitors, Holly helped us truly understand the Netherlands, not just see it. Her explanations made every stop meaningful rather than just a photo opportunity. The tour felt thoughtful, well-paced, and incredibly informative. Highly recommended for anyone who wants more than a standard sightseeing tour. This was an authentic and enriching experience.
The tour was good overall, but it felt a little rushed at times. The first stop wasn’t something I was really interested in, but the rest of the itinerary was great! Our tour guide was excellent and made the experience enjoyable! thank you
At first I was skeptical to go since I thought we won't have enough time at each stop and we will feel uncomfortable. But at the contrary, we had sooo much! By far the most fun we've had at Amsterdam. We got to see the towns and to taste the amazing cheese. Our guide "Lara" was soo nice and funny. She kept explaining about the history but not in a boring way, we enjoyed having her as a guide so much. Highly recommend!
This tour includes a ferry ticket from Volendam to Marken and lunch. The round-trip bus fare from Amsterdam was accompanied by an English tour guide, so there was no waste of time and it was great value for money. I usually don't expect much from a tour lunch, but I was able to choose between chicken and fish, and I chose fish. The bite-sized fried fish was served quickly and hot in large quantities, and I was surprised at how delicious it was. The French fries were also delicious, and warm bread, water, and salad were also included. Two types of mayonnaise, pickled mayonnaise and regular mayonnaise, were included. The amount was great, so they only added sauce when we ran out. I ordered a Heineken beer because it seemed to go well with beer, and it was very cold and delicious. Edo, the tour guide, was very easy to understand even for those who don't understand English, and he explained things slowly and carefully, and he always told us where the toilets were. We first went to Volendam, where those who had the ferry ticket and those who didn't were separated, and those who had the ferry ticket picked up their tickets at a souvenir shop and traveled to Marken by ferry. We had lunch at a restaurant in Marken. After that, we moved to Edam, where we were told that the shape of the roof of an Edam house tells us which century it was built in, and then we went to a cheese factory. At the cheese factory, someone dressed in Dutch costume explained how cheese was made in the old days, and we sampled various cheeses there, and we bought 380g for about 13 euros, about half the price in Japan. There were many other souvenirs that included cheese and various other items. After that, we went to a wooden shoe factory where they actually showed us the process of making wooden shoes. The last stop was the main attraction, Zaanse Schans. The windmill scenery was very beautiful. I couldn't see everything by myself. All the tourist spots were crowded and there were long lines for food and souvenir shops. Even if you order a meal, you often can't eat it right away, so I recommend getting lunch. If you like sweet things, you could have a big waffle or various breads instead of a meal. The problem with the tour is, as always, the morning meeting place. This time it was at a place called Aloha, but there was no counter, and you had to find out who was gathering the buses going to which destination among the large crowd. Therefore, I recommend going to the meeting place early. This time, as long as the tour guide had my name on his smartphone, it was fine, and there was no QR code check or anything. I always go to the meeting place early, but I'm nervous about whether I'll make it in time for the departure time. I chatted with Klook's customer service the day before, but it seemed like they didn't understand the travel agency's system. Also, the person introducing this tour on YouTube explained that there was another meeting place near Aloha, and that you can't get on the bus unless you exchange it for a ticket there, and most tours depart from here! That was also a source of confusion. If you go to the meeting place early, there will be no problem, so I recommend going 30 minutes to an hour before. Thanks to Klook, I can make a reservation in Japanese without any mistakes, so it's always helpful. Thank you again this time.
the tour was varied and educational. Bea was very professional and had lots of interesting facts to share. only thing I didnt like was the lunch place making me share a table with other tour mates. it was really awkward.
I am glad to join the package day tour as it saved my time and hassle traveling to and from Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendum, and Marken. My package included lunch at Volendum and ferry to Marken. For lunc, we were given 2 choices, ie. fried fish or grilled chicken. It saved us time to look for restaurant. The ferry only took us 30 mins ride to reach Marken from Volendum.
good tour, English parking tour guide, worth the price. the waiting area at ALOHA was a bit far from the central station which is about 13-15minutes walk away. can do without the ferry ride, but can consider the lunch
Itinerary follow as the plan, schedule ran smooth and well. Tour leaders giving very clear explanation about the timing and valuable elaboration about the history and stories.
Great value for money. The tour was well organised and our tour guide Rafael had rich information about the places we visited. Would definitely recommend.
