What to Expect from Skydive Wanaka in Queenstown
Get transferred to Wanaka Airport, hop aboard a plane and get whisked away to the drop area. Meet your expert tandem instructor, receive a safety briefing, get strapped into your harness and take that leap of faith. You will have three height options for your jump: 9,000 feet (2,743 meters); 12,000 feet (3,657 meters) or the ultimate 15,000 feet (4,572 meters). The flight lets you reach the speed of up to 200 kilometers per hour and after about a minute of freefall, your parachute will open. You may want to close your eyes during the flight — but try to keep them open to catch the breathtaking views down below as you fly over Mt. Cook, Mt. Aspiring, the Southern Alps, up to 6 lakes and the Clutha River.

Well worth the experience! Although it was really scary and frightening during the takeoff and climbing process, the instructor kept encouraging you, making you feel at ease and you felt great after the jump!

This was my second time skydiving, and the experience was even better than my first time in Switzerland.
Skydiving in Wanaka was something I had been looking forward to for a long time, and the weather on the day was perfect. From 15,000 feet, the views of Mount Cook, Lake Wanaka, Lake Hawea, and the Wanaka township were incredibly clear and breathtaking. My tandem instructor and photographer were both very professional and supportive, which made the whole experience smooth and comfortable. Even though there were about 60 seconds of free fall, the weightless feeling wasn’t as intense as I expected. After the parachute opened, we had plenty of time to glide and enjoy the stunning scenery below. If you don’t have a car, you can book their free shuttle from the i-SITE visitor centre, which made everything very convenient. Definitely a must-do experience in Wanaka!
After booking, I contacted the skydiving company directly because my flight might be delayed. Their customer service was very responsive, and skydiving was truly a fantastic experience.
The weather was great, the scenery was magnificent, and the pre-trip briefing was clear. You'll receive a message one hour before the reservation to confirm whether the trip will proceed. You can purchase additional photography packages on-site. It's an activity worth experiencing!
