The midway museum was a pleasant surprise. You’d think it’s only made for boys who know about planes but it will make you appreciate history and all the lives sacrificed at the Midway. The ship is maintained in excellent condition and the yellow hats were all helpful and happy to help.
Well spend 3 hours to get to know better of Navy and Marines mission. Behind the ship there are more than airplanes and ships, working in hotel business myself, I am well aware of tough situations especially when managing thousands of crew in the middle of sea and tense of war without break once be on duty. I did late arrived on first day as travel from another city and the reception former navy generously advised me to get the complimentary revisit card which I was pleased for revisit to complete the whole tour of the ship. Thanks so much for their hospitality and being great hosts.
This was the main event of my San Diego trip! I watched Top Gun countless times before the trip to prepare for today. No matter what anyone says or how much they laugh, I was thrilled and feeling like Maverick for the day. I was very satisfied to sit in both the front and back seats of the F14. I was truly impressed to see the A4, A7, and F4II, which I used to build as plastic models as a child, as well as the F18 up close. I also enjoyed the hangar and various facilities inside the ship.
extremely easy to book on Klook app. After reading reviews decided this was a definite experience we wanted to check out. Parking is available right in front of the museum for $15. We were able to enter seamlessly with our voucher. It encompasses three different levels. There are numerous veterans all around the facility to help with questions as well as share their personal stories and experiences. This was definitely the highlight given that the volunteers were so willing and so enthusiastic about sharing all of their knowledge. The ship itself is a man-made astonishment. It is unbelievable the amount of detail and craftsmanship that went into a carrier like this back in the 1940s. We were just in all of the exquisite detail and sheer size of the entire establishment. The children especially loved the top floor where they were able to play and interact with the different aircraft carriers. Overall, we had a wonderful time and recommend this activity
We were pleasantly surprised at the various exhibits at USS Midway. Signage and information were great. Many of the workers are volunteer veterans who have served in the navy — All of them are friendly and helpful. Can easily spend over 3 hours here. We spent 4 hours and still didn’t finish seeing everything. Be sure to grab an audio guide. All of the planes are original except for one (can you find it?). The closest parking is run by an independent operator and costs approximately $15 when we visited for 6 hours (credit card accepted). Although more expensive than the parking lot a short walk away ($2.50 per hour), that lot has a 3 hour maximum. For flexibility, it would be best to park at the closest lot. From the top deck, be sure to join one of the docents to learn more about certain topics. Those are typically led by veterans. Will definitely bring other friends and family back in the future. My other gripe is that the admission could be more affordable.
We went during the summer holidays, many tourists but acceptable amount. you can join the tour to see the wheelhouse.
It worth visiting to see how big it is and think about the war itself. good experience with family. highly recommend.
Very nice tour for the whole family specially if your little ones are into airplanes and aviation. We used promocode HEYITSMIMSKLOOK for discounts.
