Luang Prabang Half Day City Tour

Our tour, Jet, was such a lovely companion to have! He was knowledgeable and patient and accommodating. The tour itself is quite quiet and lowkey, but Luang Prabang isn't a huge place lol. Highly recommend!

It was too hot midday, under the strong sunshine, we had to listen the explain. The guide used to get heat weather but not for us. Before the start the explain, find a shade or explain inside. And midday visiting 4 temples was too hard to us. The guide should have taken to us the museum at the midday is better idea , I guess.

Luang Prabang has many interesting archaeological sites. This activity will take you to see those important places. The guide explains the stories in great detail.

Good experience although reaching organizer before the tour was hard

It turns out my wife and I were the only participant in the tour. Our guide (Mr. Xoy) arrived in the hotel. Apparently he came from a poor family in the remote province, was sent by his father to be a monk in the province, and fortunately he was later transferred to one of best temples in Luang Prabang. After finishing the equivalent of high school, he stopped being a monk to study in the university (while working part-time to support himself). Thus after university graduation, he became a guide, but goes back to farming during the lean tourist season. I appreciated the insights I got from him, with respect to religion and the lifestyle and social values of the typical Laotian man-in-the-street. I learned more about the ordinary Laotian people in a half-day of interacting with him, then I did from my entire week of visiting the usual tourist places.

Had a pretty good guide for this trip. sorry I forgot his name but his Pict is in the photos. trip was educational, and the temples were dazzling and beautiful. interesting stories told to us about the tree of life at Wat Xiengthong. Also visited the palace and was all in all an excellent visit to see the main sights of Luang Prabang.

I really enjoyed the tour led by our guide, Sai. He was really friendly and quite knowledgeable. Being in the same age range as us (20s), it felt comfortable and casual during the tour. The downside was that the weather was really hot in May and when introducing the various sites it could have been done in the shades. We had to miss the slow walk down Srisavangvong road after going to the temples as the weather was sweltering. Nevertheless it was an insightful albeit short tour in the city. Recommend going during cooler seasons.
