Reviews
It was an exceptional experience, a small group with tea and desert going over the traditional Peranacan stuff at the spot. The place is small and cozy, but fill with antiques and artifacts. The talk makes all the difference!
Alvin, the owner, is a brilliant story teller. The house is small but packed with extremely interesting items. The overall experience was wonderful. If you are interested in Peranakan culture and a similar experience at a cheaper price point ($15), do visit the Katong Antique House, which has just reopened for tours. Overall, I recommend visiting both the Intan and the Katong Antique House, as well as the NUS Baba House (free for NUS staff and students).
Informative tour and impressive collection. Owner was welcoming and catered to the request of having bilingual commentary (for my parents who don’t understand english). recommended to all who wants to know more about the Peranakan culture.
Had a special liking for Peranakan culture, visited this place The Intan - Celebrating all things Peranakan! with my folks to learn more about the history. The owner, Alvin is very friendly and being a baba, he is able to share a lot more with us. Do visit this place if you want to know more
This is a small place but packed with precious collection of the house owner. Exhibition is unique, display all over available space include the stair, ceiling and even the toilet.
Alvin was a wonderful host. He explain led the Peranakan culture and show us all the collectibles in the house and made everyone feels at home. Just a little disappointed with the “Tea experience”
stepping into the museum is like stepping into a different era. host was welcoming and gave us the full peranakan experience of how they would welcome guest traditionally to their home!
An interesting and special experience. The museum is our guide’s house. You can see his passion for his root. If you would like to understand the Peranakan history and culture, you should not miss this place. We loved his collections of things from Penang, Melaka and Singapore.
Friendly owner Alvin provided an interesting insight on Peranakan culture and answered the numerous questions we have. Cannot compare with an actual museum, but this definitely has more personal touch.
very very awsome experience with Host. he is very friendly and explains his culture so well with story telling.
