The Mezzanine Sessions: Grain/Form

Known for its unexpected programming, ECA: Merry Market continues its spirit of discovery with The Mezzanine Sessions: Grain/Form, a ticketed 70-minute participatory experience hidden above the former assembly hall at New Bahru

At the heart of Grain/Form is rice, a humble ingredient found across many Asian tables. Inspired by the visual language of snow during the festive season and grounded in our Southeast Asian roots, the experience reimagines rice as both material and medium—something to uncover, shape, assemble and taste.

Step into an exhibition where familiar materials take on unexpected forms through colour, texture, scent and flavour. Featuring artists, designers and makers from Asia, guests are invited into a world where art, food and the senses come together. Designed as an accessible introduction to art and craftsmanship, Grain/Form encourages everyone to slow down, look closer and discover the creative processes behind each object and ingredient.

Presented by Of Wonder Wander, the journey brings together objects and materials reimagined by Still and WASTD, a self-constructed dish by Odem in dialogue with Gong Hua from WHOEATSART, and an exploration of scent through THE O.B.A.

More than a meal or an exhibition, Grain/Form places guests within the creative process. Uncover, touch, choose, assemble and taste as individual materials and ideas come together to form something personal.
