You can write to ask if there is a closer pick-up point, and remember to include the name and address of your hotel. You will be given a snack bag when you get on the bus. The first stop is the jet boat, which is at your own expense. Even if no one is on it, it will leave for Castle Hill around 10:30, and then you will be given a lunch bag (a sandwich and an apple). At some points you can only stop for a photo. Castle Hill is an hour, and Arthur's Pass is a half-hour or 2-hour hike. Those who walk for 30 minutes will take you to a nearby town, which is the only place to buy food and drinks. When the time is up, the tour guide will take the people for another 2 hours to the town. Finally, after the people who are taking the train leave, the remaining people will go to the last stop, Cave Stream, and then he will take you back to the pick-up point in the morning.
Had a lovely day out with our guide John, who entertained us the whole way with his tales and humour. Do note that this is the version of the tour without the TranzAlpine railway, and they will combine both tour groups. You can still get on the train with their help, but it’s cheaper to just get the train package tour from the start. John helped to sort us out and the ride was definitely worth it!
We had a great time with this tour package. Castle Hill was my favourite. The landscape of New Zealand is just amazing.
As another review said, I thought the speedboat was part of the itinerary, and the travel agency's email did not say it was at our own expense, and they also asked us to bring raincoats. Please indicate this as a self-funded item in your itinerary. There were multiple stops throughout the day for taking photos, and the included lunch was really good. The rocks on Castle Hill are interesting and rare, and the waterfalls are too trivial. The driver and tour guide Joseph was really awesome. He took good care of every member of the group and took photos for us. Many group members originally planned to take the train on their return trip that day, but the road was congested. Joseph had to send the group members who did not take the train to the waterfall, and then arrange for other group members to take the train. He was very busy. He was funny and humorous, and his explanations were very clear.
Just had the Arthur’s Pass tour with Clive as our tour guide (hopefully i got the name right). Clive is fantastic guide, he made sure that we had enough time to explore, rest, and take pictures at every stops along the way. He’s giving very informative commentary during the trip, and even lead and show us the way to the cave stream. Thank you Clive for the kind hospitality and always trying your best to accommodate the passengers’ needs. Will definitely book another trip with Cheeky Kea the next time i visit NZ!
Great experience and what a nice day to joined in for a trip, four seasons in a day (Rain, Snow, Sunny then Super Cold). Jess is our professional tour guide for the day.
It was a nice trip today, went through almost all attractions, except Arthur's Pass due to moderate rain at the time.
The guide is very good and experienced, he shared a lot of things with us and even brought us to a very local and authentic hotel for lunch
This was a very well-planned itinerary. You absolutely must witness the beautiful scenery when the weather is good 💗. The tour guide was very dedicated to explaining facts about New Zealand, showing great care and effort 🫶🏻.
Even though the weather wasn't great, the tour guide was excellent, and we still had a lot of fun.
