What to expect
"Mori no Geihinkan Juyondai Umejiro" is a Japanese restaurant that skillfully combines Sendai's history and culinary aesthetics. The owner holds an antique dealer's license, and the interior is themed around Date culture, with a 1:1 replica of Date Masamune's armor, antique artifacts, and paintings displayed in the space, inheriting Date Masamune's fondness for gorgeousness and unique artistic aesthetics.
The restaurant’s most representative feature is the presentation of Kaiseki cuisine in “Sendai Tansu” traditional crafts. Sendai Tansu was born at the end of the Edo period and was developed by craftsmen gathered in Sendai Castle Town. Originally, it was a storage cabinet used by samurai, made of wood such as zelkova, chestnut, and cedar, and paired with mirror-like bright red Kibiro lacquer and iron-made metal fittings. The gorgeous and unrestrained style fully demonstrates the “chic and gorgeous” spirit of Date culture.
The course menu includes: assorted sashimi, oysters with yuzu vinegar, fried dishes, beef tendon chawanmushi, etc., for a total of 10 dishes. (Detailed meals are subject to change depending on the season and availability of ingredients, please forgive us.)
