Madura Island Half-Day Private Tour with Batik Art

Something different. Who would have thought an active limestone quarry can be a tourist spot? Our guide, Rina is good! She’s knowledgeable about the area. The bebek sinjay is delicious! We even tried it again on one of the posh restaurants in the city that evening - but this Madura original is still the best by far! We had a good time at the batik shop too! The Uncle at that shop is just awesome! He took great studio-like photos of us. And I so love the beautiful batik that we got there.

Guide Arya was all rounded and knowledgeable about the visited locations around Madura. But due to unexpected bad weather halfway through, we could not go to Arosbaya Hill. But Arya was thoughtful to offer alternative visit spots back in Surabaya instead, where we went to Cheng Ho mosque. Driver Yohannes was very smooth with driving and going around challenging roads. Overall can recommend this trip to explore Madura island from Surabaya. This tour should be made avaiable as sharing tour also as the price is on the high side for a private one only.

We took the “Madura private day tour from Surabaya“ . There are the wonderful memories with our guide Hirman and driver Hasan. Hirman is a great tour guide who shared lots of culture of Madura, and is also a great photographer who left beautiful images of our trip. Hirman and Hasan also helped us find the souvenir shop in Surabaya.

this became one of the highlights of my indonesian trip in java island. glad i did it coz the places where my guide took me are really stunning! Arya is very a good guide,can sense his dedication to his work. bonus is he also takes good photos and knows exactly which spots are the best for the photos. the lunch included may look simple, but its quite delicious.

The tour highlight is the limestone hills. The first was an active quarry with abandoned cut out limestone features aiming at tourists. It is stunning and full of potential yet in ruin due, apparently to COVID. The second is a decommissioned quarry though some locals are stil cutting stone using simple tools. The red hue and overgrown turned it into an exotic location which is worth a visit. Slotted in between the two sights is a visit to a local wet-dry market and a small local batik shop with some historic collections. Personally I would give a pass to these two attractions and thought a trip to the local salt farm might be more interesting presumably. The lunch is a famous local fried duck meal, delicious though, but simple nonetheless. Overall, I would still recommend the tour as it offers something different from other excursions from Surabaya and to support the Madura community.

This is a very good activity to add to your itinerary in Surabaya especially after Mount Bromo. The trip was more relaxing and educational and we got a chance to see other parts of Surabaya. Hreesang, our guide was very friendly, fun and informative. We learned a lot about local culture and he took very nice photos. This activity is highly recommended!

My parents and I had a really great time touring Madura, which is less than an hour’s drive from our hotel in Surabaya. Our tour guide, Vira, and our driver, Johan were really friendly and accommodating. They didn’t rush us or restrict us to any specific amount of time at each location, so we could speed through the traditional market visit, spend way more time snapping scenic photos and selfies at two beautiful limestone hills, and even have enough time to stop by one of the local mosques for Muslim prayers. Vira is also an excellent photographer and videographer, so extra points for that! I now have plenty of footage to look back on. 😍 We also had fun drawing our own batik designs and dined to our heart’s content on Bebek Sinjay, the famous Madurese dish, featuring crispy fried duck with rice and sambal. We also had the opportunity to witness their traditional cow race, which only happens a few times a year. Overall, it was money well spent!

Guide Hirman was very kind and explained everything well. I was very satisfied because he took great pictures. If you go to Surabaya, Indonesia, I recommend visiting Madura Island for a day to try your hand at batik painting and see the diverse limestone areas. Highly recommended.

a very good day for tour, nice weather. we got the same guide Mr Ikhsan from our Bromo tour yay! unique experience visiting Jaddih Hill - so sorry that rhe lake has no more water. then we went to traditional market and Tresno Art, specializing in Madura batik - shopping time! we were so excited, we bought back Madura salt (and also the batik of course). Lastly, we had our lunch at Bebek Sinjay - never had that kind of sambal before, not that spicy, but yummy. Thank you for memorable experience for our 1st time visit to Madura

Hreesang was our guide for this trip and he was amazing! very friendly and easy to get along with, also speaks really good English. would highly recommend doing this trip it is a very unique experience
