What To Expect

Come to Iiyama for a truly unique winter dining experience. Enter the Kamakura snow huts of Iiyama Snow Hut Village - located in the northern tip of Nagano prefecture - and feast on a hot and hearty bowl of noroshi nabe. This is a hotpot dish containing pork, mushrooms, and various other vegetables all cooked and seasoned with miso. Onigiri (rice balls) will also be served. To pair with this delicious dish is either a sake tasting or a sweets tasting (which is perfect for kids). Book with Klook now, and experience this unique dining experience to warm up your winter

Plan 1
  • 4:30pm-5:00pm receive your snow hut number at Kamakura House reception and make your way to the designated snow hut
  • 5:00pm-6:00pm enjoy dinner with a noroshi nabe hot pot in a Kamakura Snow Hut (60 minutes)
  • 6:00pm end of meal. The snow hut may be used until 6:00pm. Please leave the snow hut without delay
Plan 2
  • This plan is available only on weekends & 11 Feb (a public holiday in Japan)
  • 6:15pm-6:45pm receive your snow hut number at Kamakura House reception, and make your way to the designated snow hut
  • 6:45pm-7:45pm enjoy dinner noroshi nabe hot pot in a Kamakura Snow Hut (60 minutes)
  • 7:45pm end the meal. The snow hut may be used until 7:45pm. Please leave the snow hut without delay

Insider Tips:

  • Customers may head to the location earlier to enjoy playing in the snow and other winter activities, but can only enter the hut at the time specified
  • There are events held in the Snow Hut Village. Feel free to arrive earlier than the meet up time to enjoy some activities (fees not included in the tour booking charge). Make sure you check more details on events and other information.
  • Please wear warm winter clothing on the day of the plan. The average temperature in January and February when these plans are held is around -1℃, with a max temperature of 2℃ to 3℃, but the temperature may drop even lower in the evening
  • There are no rentals for winter gear at the location, so please prepare your own warm clothing such as gloves, hats, a scarves, earmuffs, etc. Since the ground is very slippery, wearing non-slip footwear is recommended

Additional Information:

  • 2-5 people (including infants) may use one snow hut. For safety reasons, exceeding this number of people per hut is not allowed
  • Infants aged 0-5 may join for free, but will not be provided with meals. Please prepare their own food
  • Child ticket: Age 6-11
  • Depending on operational circumstances, certain tour dates may be canceled, or tour operation may cease entirely. The plan may be suddenly canceled in the case that restaurant operations are suspended and have been deemed dangerous due to inclement weather, such as a snowstorm
  • If the location cannot be reached due to transportation systems being canceled, please contact Kamakura House. No cancelation fee will be levied in such cases (The contact information for Kamakura House will be posted around mid-December; Assistance is available in Japanese and simple English only)
  • Noroshi nabe is a hot pot dish prepared with locally sourced mushrooms, vegetables and pork seasoned with Shinshu miso
  • Special menus for those with dietary restrictions are not avaliable. Please bring your own food, drinks, snacks, etc. if necessary. Ingredients can be brought in, but barbecuing is not allowed inside the snow hut
  • Any trash from food, etc., which customers bring to the location, must be taken home with them. No refunds will be issued even if the provided food is not eaten
  • Each group of customers can enjoy either a sake tasting set or sweets set as a plan exclusive. Please note that under Japanese law, alcohol cannot be served to customers under 20 years old.
  • At reception, customers will be given a voucher for a sake tasting set or sweets set. After exchanging it at the shop, customers are to bring it themselves to the Kamakura snow hut
How To Use
  • You must present a printed voucher for this activity at reception. Simply showing the confirmation on a mobile device will not be accepted
  • The voucher is valid only for the date specified

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes in advance


How To Get There:

  • By taxi: from JR Iiyama Station or JR Togari-Nozawaonsen Station (one-way trip is approximately 15 minutes and costs JPY3,000-4,000. Please tell the driver to drop you off at Restaurant Kamakura-mura)
  • Iiyama Station can be reached via Hokuriku Shinkansen (Hakuraka train) in about 110 minutes from Tokyo and about 80 minutes from Kanazawa

    The place is beautiful and the experience is magical! The snow huts are so cute and spacious. The soup was delish and very apt for the freezing temp outside. Being from a tropical country this is truly a wonderful experience.

    It’s good to experience ~ in Iiyama jr transfer to Nagano local bus ~ snow house is bus stop ~ car shifts (special return only one class 6 o'clock) best checkin when buying buried return tickets ~ or can take taxis ~
