What to expect

Learn the history and cultural significance of the tea ceremony, explore tea utensils and their care, and enjoy a demonstration of elegant movements and seasonal hospitality. Prepare matcha yourself and join a Q&A session to deepen your understanding. You can also appreciate Kyoto’s traditional culture through ikebana (flower arrangement) and higashi (dry sweets). Hanging scrolls, tea bowls, and kettles—rarely seen up close even in museums—are on display. This is not a tea ceremony experience designed merely for sightseeing or social media photos. It is a meaningful cultural experience for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding. We welcome guests who genuinely value culture and art, and who wish to encounter the quiet beauty and refined spirit of Japan in an authentic way.
