More about Reykjavik Golden Circle & South Coast 3-Day Small Group Tour
Day One: the famous Golden Circle with Thingvellir, Geysir, and Gullfoss
The adventure begins with a pickup in Reykjavik before travelling along the famous Golden Circle route. The first stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Thingvellir National Park. Rich in history and geology, Thingvellir is a must-visit destination in Iceland, where two tectonic plates are drifting apart and where the world’s oldest continuously operating parliament, Althingi, is located. From Thingvellir, participants continue to the spouting geysers at the Geysir Hot Spring area, where Strokkur Geysir erupts up to 25 meters into the air. The final highlight of the Golden Circle is the powerful waterfall of Gullfoss, or Golden Falls, roaring through a rugged canyon and plunging 32 meters. Travelling south towards the night’s accommodation, participants make stops at Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss, two spectacular and highly photogenic waterfalls
Day Two: South Coast with Reynisfjara, Glacier Lagoon, and Ice Cave visit
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, participants travel to the unique black sand beach of Reynisfjara, home to an impressive basalt column cave and the striking black basalt sea stacks of Reynisdrangar. The journey continues east through the charming village of Vik towards Vatnajokull National Park. Upon reaching the magical Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, participants can admire the lagoon filled with uniquely shaped icebergs drifting in a dreamlike procession, followed by a visit to the nearby Diamond Beach. The day concludes with an unforgettable ice cave adventure, exploring a natural ice cave and its breathtaking icy dome. Overnight accommodation is in the Skaftafell area, which, during winter and with favorable conditions, offers excellent opportunities for spotting the magical Northern Lights
Day three: All about glaciers
The final day offers a thrilling glacier hiking adventure. Accompanied by a certified glacier guide, participants explore one of Vatnajokull’s outlet glaciers while learning about the fascinating nature of Icelandic glaciers. Constantly moving and changing, the glacier creates unique formations such as crevasses and ice falls, which the guide will explain in detail. After the hike, participants board the bus for a scenic return journey to the capital, where the adventure concludes, arriving in Reykjavik between 16:00 and 19:00
