Reviews summaryMichiko was INCREDIBLE. if you’re lucky to be assigned her for your tour guide, she explained the history of Sumo, how it works, traditions, fun facts, and even provided great visuals to understand what we were watching. She elevated the experience to where we enjoyed the show to the fullest extent, the location itself, and were guided to the best souvenir shops. We were lucky to be a part of a small group. S class seats are the way to go! Best view of the house with some amazing takeaways treats!
Our guide was well knowledgeable I believe her name is Mrs Yuki, she was really passionate about Sumo, so all the share and knowledge we got from her and energy to engage such a great experience… I highly recommend this because its very traditional, people in Japan really love it and is something really cool, I had seen muay thai fights and Boxeo fights for sure sumo its not behind its really awesome!
Amazing experience! I had tried to buy the tickets directly on the official website but without success. I immediately bought via Klook and luckily! The organization is perfect, our guide was great, very kind and didactic, in very understandable English. We were on the second floor (2F) and we could see very very well! Don't hesitate for a second, if you see seats on the second floor row S or A buy them you won't regret anything!!!
we had a knowledgeable and fun guide, plus the Basho was exciting to watch. The event sold chanko for 500 yen and there was merch to buy inside the venue to cheer on your favorite rikishi. If you are already a sumo fan the lecture isn’t really necessary, but this is still the easiest way to get tickets. I just wish we could attend the entire event to see the lower divisions as well.
This by far was my favorite experience in Tokyo! So much fun!! Tour guide was very knowledgable and gave great history and background of sumo. Our seats were great and we were able to see every match perfectly. I highly recommend this tour!!
Our guide, Kaoru, she explained about sumo clearly. She guided us the important information about sumo’s history, rules, and watching. It was such a wonderful experience watching sumo.
Our guide, Ms. Kumi, was very enthusiastic and shared a lot of sumo knowledge. I chatted with her in both English and Japanese about various aspects of sumo matches. The meeting point was the Ryogoku View Hotel, where we spent about 20 minutes receiving English brochures, the day's sumo match-ups, and admission tickets, and listening to the guide's explanation before heading to the Kokugikan. I had watched sumo broadcasts on NHK when I was a child, and in recent years, Japanese friends recommended watching matches on Abema TV. This was my first time ever stepping into the Kokugikan to see a sumo match, and the excitement of watching it live was far greater than watching a broadcast. I'm so glad I purchased a 2nd-floor A-seat ticket through Klook; the view was excellent. I will definitely come back to watch again if I have the chance.
My favorite part of my Tokyo experience! love the sportsmanship and the love for suma by the locals. Our guide was very good at explaining what was happening through out the event. I definitely recommend this experience.
amazing experience! couldn't get tickets through the sumo tournament website, but we were happier to get tickets here. It was exceptionally well organized. The guides were great, gave us 30 mins of history and rules, and continued to give more information in between the bouts. We got English info, a rankings guide and a sumo hand towel as part of the tour. 100% recommend.
It was increíble, such a unique experience, would totally come back if I had the chance. Our guide, Miko-san, was great. She made sure I was enjoying and understanding throughout the matches. Her English was perfect, making it very easy to have a conversation or ask questions. Her sumo explanation regarding history, rules and what to expect, was clear and easy to understand.
