- How to get there: This area is easily accessible for visitors coming from various parts of the city. The most common way to reach the museum is by using the T4 tram line, which stops at the Edirnekapı station. From there, it’s a short walk to the museum entrance. Alternatively, several bus lines, including 31E, 37E, 38E, and 36KE, have stops nearby, providing convenient options for public transportation. For those traveling from the Asian side, ferries to Eminonu from Kadikoy or Uskudar can be used to reach the European side, where connections to the T4 tram line or relevant buses can be easily accessed.

Absolutely gorgeous church. It's honestly out of the way from everything else in Istanbul, so it wasn't the easiest place to get to, but it was well worth it if you have the extra time and money. I know Hagia Sophia has the history and the renown, but Chora Church/Kariye Mosque has the mosaics that people think of when they think of Byzantine art. It was shocking how well-preserved the mosaics were. I do have to say that the ticket is quite pricey. It was worth the money for me since I like art and history, but for people who are looking for more of an experience, it might not be the best thing to spend on.

The mosaics and murals remain beautifully. When I visited, it was prayer time, so admission was limited to about 30 minutes. This is unavoidable because it is an active mosque. Rather, I was surprised to see the Christian section of the mosque.
