What to expect

So many historic sites dot the Tasman Peninsula that it would take a day to see them all. And this day tour from Hobart does exactly that, allowing you to revisit the past and learn about the fascinating history of the peninsula, as well as Port Arthur. In Richmond Village, which has been named as Australia's best-preserved colonial village, you get a snapshot of the past in the old buildings. Then it's off to the south afterward, to see Pirate's Bay and head to its lookout. The Tasman Peninsula is a dramatic coastline, and in the Tasman National Park, it's even more evident. With its sea cliffs, incredible rock formations, and bushwalks, it's a wild land of rugged beauty. Port Arthur is not far from this, and this port in itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Historic Site. The harbor cruise from here is a wonderful opportunity to get a view of the peninsula from the water, so don't forget to capture the panoramas and natural features, among them Tasman Arch, Devil's Kitchen, and the Blowhole.
