What to expect
Choose between Waiotapu or Oarakei Korako geothermal areas for your first stop on this 7-hour day trip. Then see Huka Falls, Lake Taupo and the surrounding areas. Admission fees to the thermal areas of your choice are included. Lunch is at your own expense. This guided smaller-group tour includes pickup from your centrally located accommodation in Rotorua and the below at the attractions.

Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland is worth visiting: the Champagne Lake is beautiful and the fountain is very special. It's just that the pick-up and drop-off area was booked a bit strangely. There was no free pick-up and drop-off just one intersection away. I was asked to walk to another hotel to get on the bus.
The tour guide was great – humorous, engaging, and really went above and beyond. Paired with the beautiful weather and scenery of Rotorua, the whole experience was wonderful.
Visiting Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland was fantastic. Our driver, Herns — 86 years old — was incredibly humorous, attentive, and provided great commentary throughout the journey. He drove very smoothly, which made the trip even more enjoyable. The vehicle was the most comfortable we experienced in New Zealand. If you’re heading toward Taupō, this is definitely the transport to book!
The tour guide was very cute and enthusiastic. They took us to see the fountain and we walked the geothermal park trail for about 1.5 hours. We had about 1 hour of free time in Taupo. Huka Falls was magnificent!
