Sunlight Rock
Gulangyu Island, Siming District, Xiamen
- Sunlight Rock is formed by two huge rocks, one vertical and one horizontal, standing against each other. It is the highest peak of Gulangyu Island and one of the scenic spots of Gulangyu Island. Looking around, you can see Xiamen City, the entire Gulangyu Island, the sea, and the Dadan and Erdan Islands.
- Sunlight Rock is located in the south of the central part of Gulangyu Island, Xiamen City. It is commonly known as "Yanzi Mountain" and also known as "Huangyan". According to legend, in 1641, Zheng Chenggong came to Huangyan and saw that the scenery here was better than Nikko Mountain in Japan, so he split the word "Huang" and called it "Sunlight Rock".
- The top of the rock is surrounded by railings, which is considered a small viewing platform. It should be noted that there will be a lot of people during the day in the peak season, and because the viewing platform is very small, it will be very crowded. So if time permits, you can choose to go in the evening, when there are fewer tourists and a different scenery.
