What to expect

Discover Sumo Culture, History, and the January Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo! Enjoy sumo, a traditional Japanese sport and national sport, deeply rooted in Japanese culture for more than 1,500 years, at the Ryogoku Kokugikan. You will feel the cheers and power that you cannot experience on TV. Please take this opportunity to make a reservation!

Good to know

Children up to 3 years of age may also join, but must sit on the lap of a parent or guardian while watching
Visitors 4 years old and up must have an admission ticket
Spectators in wheelchairs are not permitted
Also, seats may not be designated. This information will be provided on the day of the tour
If you would like to be seated together as a group, please make a request when booking. Although staff will try to provide customers with their requested seating arrangements, please note that some requests may not be accommodated
Suitcases and other large pieces of luggage cannot be brought into the seating area. Please make sure to store luggage at another location on your own in advance (coin lockers, etc.) or at your accommodation
Re-entry is allowed once a day
Lost admission tickets or exchange tickets will not be accepted. Re-issue of tickets is not possible
Guests who are late for the redeemtion time will have their reservations cancelled
Please note that you will have to wait to be seated if one of the following events is underway at the time: a sumo match, a speech by the Sumo Association
No spectators are allowed to watch the matches from seats other than their own
Eating and drinking are allowed in the seating area Food and beverages will be sold at the concession stand. Food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, are not allowed in the Kokugikan. - Please purchase food and beverages at the concession stand inside the arena
