Sanyo Shinkansen

The Sanyo Shinkansen is run by Japan Railways (JR) West. The West Japan Railway Company manages trains in western Japan, linking cities and major stations like Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima that , and Hakata (Fukuoka). It's the second oldest Shinkansen line. The line has 5 types of trains operating in the West: Nozomi trains, Hikari trains, Kodama trains, Mizuho trains, and Sakura trains. The Nozomi is the fastest among Shinkansen high-speed trains, reaching speeds of 300 km/h (185 mph). To ride these trains with a JR Pass, you'll need to purchase a special ticket along with your Japan Rail Pass.
