I have never been to Vegas and been faced with more barriers to having a good time than I did at Mandalay Bay. Maybe it’s just Mandalay Bay, but this was an odd Vegas experience. I hope this is not what the entire city has become. We tried to use the self check in option, several advertisements on the property suggested it as a quick way to skip the line. After about 3 minutes I was finished and received a text message that I would be notified by text with info about getting my key. 30 minutes later, no text and no key, I was late for my dinner reservation and in the check in line. Staff were not interested in addressing my concerns, but they got me a room. No time to clean up before dinner. After dinner, I went to play table games. Over an hour in, I still could not get a cocktail. The next morning the aquarium opened 10 minutes later than our scheduled 10am ticket. Not a big deal but it fit with my impression about Mandalay Bay: your time and experience do not concern us. The room was good, clean and has a good view. I think I will have to try a different property next time, and hope that this is only an MGM thing, not a Vegas thing.
