I booked a time slot directly at this onsen, and it was a fantastic experience. Upon arrival, the staff was welcoming and had my booking ready. The facilities were immaculate: clean changing areas, and the water temperature was perfect. I loved having the freedom to soak at my own pace without being rushed by a group schedule. For anyone who prefers a self-guided, peaceful onsen visit without extra sightseeing stops, just booking the onsen directly is the way to go. Highly recommend!

Stepping into Hell's Gate Geothermal Park in Rotorua felt like entering a prehistoric world. This place is an absolute must-visit! The guided tour, which was nothing short of excellent. Seeing the steaming fumaroles, the boiling mud, and the raw power of the landscape up close was a truly epic experience—nature at its most fierce and beautiful.
But the real magic happened afterwards at the mud spa. After exploring the active thermal park, dipping into the geothermal mud baths and sulphur spas was pure heaven. It was superbly refreshing to soak in the warm, nutrient-rich waters while looking out over the misty, unique landscape.
What I loved most is how inclusive it is. It really is suitable for all age groups; my whole family, from the elders to the little ones, had a fantastic time. It is the perfect blend of education, adventure, and pure relaxation. If you are in Rotorua, do not miss Hell's Gate. It is an experience for the soul!

Hot springs temperature ranges between 36 and 41 Degree Celsius. Great view overseeing the lake rotorua and got a lot of nice photos taken with the amazing view! Clean and well maintained toilet despite looking older but it has all the basic amenities and staffs coming around from time to time to refill towels.

Although the weather was cold, the hot springs were wonderfully warm. There were several springs, and the sulfur spring was the most comfortable, also containing anti-inflammatory properties, which was excellent!
