Experience the natural beauty of Lonavala and all its must-see attractions at your own pace! Lonavala is a resort town through and through. With its scenic landscape, small, traditional villages, and proximity to Mumbai and Pune, the town has become a popular destination. On this tour, you can ride aboard a wagon or van, depending on your group size and luggage, to Lohagad Fort, Karla Caves, and Bhaja Caves. Visit the famous Nagphani Point or Duke's Nose, as well, a cliff pointed like a snake's bonnet (of a car) (hence the name Nagphani). The high altitude of this place makes it a great viewing point. Some other notable destinations you can explore on your day trip (or overnight trip) in Lonavala are Kune Falls, Bhushi Dam, Tiger Point, Shree Narayani Dham Temple, and Tungarli Lake. This trip is perfect for friends and family—including the kids!
Originating from the Konkan region of Maharatshtra and Goa, Malvani cuisine is different from that of the rest of India: though featuring a variety of vegetarian dishes, it is mostly meat-based. The best way to explore the authentic Malvani cuisine is though a savory home cooked meal at a local chef’s house. You will start with a welcome drink of Kokam soda and move on to appetizers: fish fry marinated in the very special Malvani masala. Then, try some of the region’s traditional mains: Bombil in green gravy, Bangda tikhale and Malvani chicken curry. The meal is complete with a generous serving of steamed rice and Vade — medium sized fried breads. Pair your sumptuous meal with Sol Kadi, a spicy and tangy drink that can improve digestion and a refreshing Koshimbir salad.

Your tour begins with a pick up from your hotel, where you'll meet your guide who will bring you to Kanheri Caves. These amazing rock-cut monuments, found in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, have stood since 1st century BCE, a testament to the long history of civilization in India. Your tour guide will bring you through its hallways and corridors so you can see the Buddha sculptures painstakingly carved into them by devotees from ancient times. Following this, your guide will take you to visit to a pair of iconic pieces of architecture in Mumbai: the Gateway of India, built for King George V and Queen Mary in 1911, and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, a 560-room wonder with ornate exteriors. Your next stop, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station, a known UNESCO World Heritage Site, will give you a glimpse back to the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, when it was first built, with its Indian-Gothic architecture. No visit to India would be complete without shopping for some spices, and in the colorful alleys of Crawford Market, you'll be able to find nearly all of them. An even more fascinating site awaits you as you head to the Dhobi Ghat, a massive open air laundry filled with hundreds of lined up wash slabs. Following this, you'll be able to take a look at Mahatma Gandhi's residence and learn about the life of this historical figure. After a break for lunch (at your own expense), the tour takes you to Malabar Hill, a very upper crust neighborhood in Mumbai where many prominent government and social figures reside in opulent residences. A glimpse of the Banganga Water Tank (and ancient tank deeply rooted in local mythology and history), and you're headed to Kamala Nehru park, named after the historic female freedom fighter, a hero in India. Your last destination is a walk at Marine Drive's “Queen's Necklace” area, where you'll be able to capture a gorgeous panorama of the city skyline right before you head back to your hotel.

What people are saying about Sightseeing in Mumbai
The trip out to Lonavala was an amazing experience! I did the day trip from Mumbai, left at 9am and was back to the hotel around 6pm. The guide Allen was amazing, and took me to Bhaja Caves, and Lohgad Fort. The road was washed out on the way to the fort, so we did a bit of walking (over 5k). I would recommend to wear comfortable closes and shoes, and bring lots of water.
