About the event
This winter, Hong Kong will host the inaugural Wa! CraftLink 2025, a cultural celebration that brings together the spirit of Japanese and Hong Kong craftsmanship. Centered on the philosophy of shokunin seishin — the artisan’s dedication to mastery, detail, and warmth — the event invites the public to experience the beauty of craft through exhibitions, performances, and workshops.
This year’s exhibition is curated around the philosophy of “Beauty in Use,” as proposed by Yanagi Soetsu, father of Japan’s Mingei movement. It explores the practical elegance of handmade objects in daily life, revealing the stories, technical essence, and human spirit behind each craft. More than a static display, Wa! CraftLink is a cross-cultural dialogue of craftsmanship.
