About the event

The exhibition Identity - The Story of Czech Graphic Design, curated by Filip Blažek and Linda Kudrnovská, is part of a broader multi-genre project that explores the evolution and impact of Czech graphic design. The project includes a TV series available on YouTube, a feature-length documentary that was screened in Hong Kong at the EU–Asia Documentary Festival in August, and a beautifully crafted book of the same name. The book Identity, introduced at the Hong Kong Book Fair in July and now available at Bookazine, serves both as a companion to the exhibition and a comprehensive monograph on Czech graphic design.

The exhibition, brought to Hong Kong as part of the Year of Czech Design 2025, showcases the very best of Czech graphic design history, where aesthetic excellence, technical precision, craftsmanship, and functionality converge. Visitors will encounter works spanning from the early 20th century to the present day, including iconic posters, masterfully designed books and magazines, a wide array of logotypes, the evolution of state symbols and navigation systems, and standout examples from the era of audiovisual media. A special highlight is the latest 60th anniversary edition of The Most Beautiful Czech Books of the Year 2024.

The exhibition architecture is designed by Adam Blažek, Jan Kloss, and Matěj Činčera.
