Fantastic 5.0
An absolute must-see – the Railway Museum in Saitama! Anyone with even a spark of enthusiasm for trains will love this museum. Spanning over 9,000 square meters, visitors can delve deep into the history of Japanese railways, featuring real locomotives, interactive exhibits, and impressive technological experiences. (Sumikai) Over 36 faithfully reproduced vehicles are on display, and thanks to lighting, music, and video effects, even stationary trains come to life. (ANA) The absolute highlight for me was the ride on the small mini-train – in that moment, you completely forget your age and become a child again. That smile won't fade anytime soon! The museum is easily accessible from Ōmiya Station via the "New Shuttle" – the journey itself sets the mood for the adventure. (Japanliebe) For families, train enthusiasts, and nostalgia lovers: definitely plan a visit!

Fantastic 5.0
Our Guide Mr Lee is smiley and friendly. His guide us at little Edo Street and recommend many nice streets foods and snack to buy home. Since it was raining, he suggested we should go for Prince shopping mall instead as my husband unable to do lots of walking. We are fortunate to have him as our guide.

What to know before visiting Saitama

Top experiences overview

Saitama’s most-booked activities are its museums, followed by a handful of massages, with outdoor and sports activities and guided tours forming a much smaller slice of bookings. Demand climbs and falls through the year, hitting a low around February and peaking in December, so the city’s museum scene is the steady draw while seasonal peaks push overall interest up at year-end.

Activities by traveller type

Families will find museums particularly easy to plan around — they’re the dominant offering and suit mixed-age groups looking for a relaxed, educational day out. Couples can pair museum visits with restorative massages for a low-key, mid-range experience. Solo travellers and small groups who want something more active can look to the outdoor and sports activities or book one of the tours, though those categories have far fewer options.

What travellers from Singapore should book ahead

Most things in Saitama can be picked up a day or two before travel because typical booking lead times are short, but the earliest planners still book around two weeks ahead, and that extra lead time matters in the peak month of December. If you’re travelling in December, secure popular museum entries or small-group activities earlier than you otherwise would.

Comparing categories: price and who they suit

Massages are the easiest, entry-level option in Saitama, offering the lowest typical price point and a quick way into local relaxation. Museums sit in the mid-range and are the bulk of activity choices, making them a good fit for families and casual visitors. Tours show the widest price spread, ranging from budget to premium experiences and suiting travellers who want guided context; outdoor and sports activities sit at the higher end of typical prices and appeal to active travellers seeking something more physical.
