    Netflix shows to help you travel the world

    Since most of us have our travel plans on hold for now and the wanderlust bug is starting to itch. We’ll just have to settle for travelling the world via our screens. Whether it’s living vicariously through our favourite movie stars as they make their way through the plot or reality tv programmes that take you around the world with food, Netflix has you covered. 

    1.Crash Landing On You - Switzerland & Korea

    Netflix’s newest K-drama hit Crash Landing on You is filmed in the beautiful sceneries of Switzerland and Korea. From Lake Brienz in Isetwald where Ri Jeong Hyeok’s sad, yet beautiful, piano scene was shot to Lindenhof, Zurich where Yoon Se-ri’s failed to find Ri Jeong Hyeok.
    At the start, we also see Yoon Se-ri crash landing in the North Korea DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) as a result of a paragliding accident. This iconic scene is actually set in the beautiful Hallasan National Park in Jeju Island, South Korea. 

    2. Street Food - Asian Tour

    Delving deep into the humble local street food scenes across Asia, Street Food doesn’t focus on the dishes alone – it also shines a spotlight into the lives of the stall owners working day and night to keep the show running.
    Drool away in front of your screens as you visit the Gwangjang Market in Korea, famous for their Mung Bean pancakes and the Crab Omelette from Jay Fai in Bangkok. 

    3. Jiro Dreams of Sushi - Tokyo

    Can’t get your Omakase fix in real life? Order some sushi delivery as you feast on this visual feast. The documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi follows the life of Jiro Ono, helmed as one of the greatest sushi masters alive. From the great singing tuna auctioneers of Tsukiji fish market to the harmony of fish, rice and soy sauce you’ll have a new found appreciation for sushi after this. 

    4.Ibiza - Croatia

    The film Ibiza follows the life of a Harper, a PR associate sick of her job, and her best friends chasing after a hot DJ in a romantic comedy perfect for a girls night in. However, while the scenes look like they were shot in Ibiza, the film was actually shot in Croatia! The Zrće beach (Pag island) was the key location for most of the scenes shot in the film.

    5.The Bucket List - travel the world!

    The Bucket List as the title explains is definitely one of the most wanderlust movies out there. From climbing The Great Wall of China to visiting the Taj Mahal in India, Carter and Edward did it all. 

    6. Terrace House - Hawaii & Tokyo 

    Terrace House is a Japanese reality TV show that showcases the lives of 6 complete strangers living in a house together. As they navigate daily life and the challenges of new housemates with very different lifestyles, this is a show you’ll binge watch till the wee hours of the morning. 
    The different seasons are filmed in Tokyo, Hawaii and Karuizawa so if you’re looking for a peek into the life of a local in these cities, you’ve got it! 

    7. Gossip Girl - New York

    Gossip Girl took the world by storm when it first premiered, taking us through the lives of New York’s rich and famous teen socialites. While we can’t all live in penthouses on the Upper East Side, we can explore New York through their eyes. 
    The beautiful main lobby of Grand Central Station is where we first get a glimpse of Serena and the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art  where Blair, Serena, and their friends hung out before and after school are just some of the most iconic spots! 

    8. J-Trip - Around the world

    Fans of Taiwan pop sensation Jay Chou, you would have already known that apart from his musical talents, Jay has recently dabbled into magic tricks! His new show J-Style Trip will take you around the world to eight destinations across three continents, including the Gold Coast, Innsbruck, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo, Shenzhen, Taipei, and Vienna. 

    9. Instant Hotel - Australia 

    The reality TV show contest Instant Hotel challenges contestants to transform their home-stays into hotels. From the Bondi Beach houses to Byron Bay, as you ogle at these beautiful homes you can plan for your next trip there and even book a night stay in these hotels. 

    10. Our Planet - around the world

    Netflix series Our Planet is equal parts love and horror as you take in the jaw dropping scenes of nature at work. Devastating scenes of the melting ice in Russia’s Chukotka Coast leading to Walrus overcrowding to Serengeti in Tanzania where you get to see rare footage of five cheetahs hunting together. 
    The series contains stories that were heartbreaking, but can also give you massive hope for the future. 

    11. Money Heist - Spain, Italy and Thailand

    While the first heist was focussed on the Royal Mint of Spain, the exteriors were actually shot at the Spanish National Research Council headquarters. The roof of the Higher Technical School of Aeronautical Engineers and parts of the Technical University of Madrid.
    In Season 2, Rio and Tokyo spent their days on the beaches of the Caribbean. The filming for these scenes took place in the Guna Yala Islands in Panama. In Season 3, the place where Tokyo reunites with the Professor is the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya, Thailand.
