    Long weekends in Singapore 2020

It’s long weekends galore for 2020! There are 13 designated public holidays and off in lieus, but with our tips, all you kiasu planners can essentially have plenty more! We’ve even included a list of places you should visit during those long weekends so you can start planning your trip now.

    1. January – Taipei & Bali

Take 2 days leave to enjoy 5 days off and take 1 day leave to enjoy 4 days off.
    Public holidays:
    • 1 January – New Years Day
    • 25, 26, 27 January – Chinese New Year
Kick off the year with a big bang by celebrating the new year in a new city! Luckily for us New Year’s Day 2020 falls on a Wednesday, giving us a chance to enjoy a mini holiday before firing up our engines for the year ahead.
We suggest heading to Taipei for your New Year Countdown! Every year on 31 December, the Taipei 101 fireworks show is one of the biggest countdown events worldwide and is often broadcasted on satellite television for the world to see. The displays light up floor by floor till the very top and the fireworks show usually last about 6-10 minutes long!
If you’re not big on the festivities of Chinese New Year, or just want to avoid those awkward grilling sessions by noisy relatives, the perfect way to do that is to escape on a holiday! Since many neighboring Malaysian cities celebrate Chinese New Year as well your best bet would be heading a little further out and we suggest Bali!
Enjoy a beach holiday stuffing your face with some of Bali’s yummiest food! Afterall, a huge part of Chinese New Year is eating.
Other things to do in Bali include:

    2. April – Penang

Take 1 day leave to enjoy 4 days off.
    Public holidays:
    • 10 April – Good Friday
There’s no better way to recharge after a hectic first quarter than to feast on delicious food. Take a long weekend trip to Penang and feast on some mouthwatering local dishes or go cafe-hopping at this Malaysian food paradise.
Couple your visit with a stay at the beautiful heritage accommodation options for an absolutely Instagram worthy time!
Essentials you’ll need on your Penang trip:

    3. May – USA & Bangkok

Take 4 days leave to enjoy 10 days off and take 1 day leave to enjoy 4 days off!
    Public holidays:
    • 1 May – Labour Day
    • 7 May – Vesak Day
    • 24, 25 May – Hari Raya Puasa
For your mid year escape, luckily for you, Labour Day and Vesak Day fall pretty near each other. This means that you can combine both public holidays to enjoy a long break off work, more specifically a whopping 10 days off!
On your long break, get ready for a party in the USA! With 10 days off, you’ll be able to cover multiple cities and we suggest Los Angeles and San Francisco. With bucket list worthy activities like visiting the OG first ever Disneyland in Anaheim, the majestic Yosemite National Park and of course hiking to the iconic Hollywood sign.
If you’re clueless as to where to go for a short weekend getaway, Bangkok is always a great idea. You can find great tasting food at every corner and even Michelin recommended eats from as low as $2! Apart from that, you can’t miss out on shopping trips at the Chatuchak Weekend market and visiting the famous floating markets.
