You can lend a helping hand to some of the worst affected by COVID-19 in Singapore through Klook Cares

Klook needs your support! We’re currently raising 5,000 meals for migrant workers who are affected by the ongoing COVID-19 situation here in Singapore. The Klook Cares initiative is in support of the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) and Alliance of Guest Workers Outreach emergency meal support program.

Today, some 120,000 migrant workers live in more than 1,000 smaller, semi-permanent or temporary accommodation referred to collectively as factory-converted dormitories (FCDs), as reported by MWC. While the law requires employers to bear the responsibility of daily provisions such as meals, recent news reports have shown that employers may not be able to provide timely support for their workers and require additional aid.
With Klook Cares, we hope that you can join us in providing quality daily meals to these workers in FCDs scattered across the island.

What meals can I buy for them?

Klook Cares hopes to provide 2,000 meals by Hari Raya, in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan. We made special arrangements with our local FnB merchants such as Ananda Bhavan, Curry Nations, and Tandoor at Holiday Inn® Singapore to provide vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals tailored to the tastes and preferences of migrant workers. These meals are priced lower than they normally would.
Even while you lend a helping hand to our migrant workers, you will also be supporting our local FnB merchants who have undoubtedly taken a hit by the prolonged social distancing measures. Each meal goes a long way in making a difference!
Here’s how you can order a meal -

Klook has also partnered with Love, Translated, a local movement to share messages of love with Singapore’s migrant workers in their own native languages. The notes of encouragement you submit when you check out the meals on Klook will be submitted to Love, Translated for translation into Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Mandarin, and Burmese.
Translated messages will be printed and accompany the meals distributed to the migrant workers to cheer them up during this trying period. You can also choose to submit messages with your name directly by WhatsApp to 8110 5683 (8110 LOVE).

Don’t worry as those messages that do not make it for print will be forwarded daily to the workers via their WhatsApp groups and targeted promoted posts on Facebook, with the full collection available at lovetranslated.org.

How will the meals be delivered?

Once you donate a meal, Klook together with MWC, will coordinate with the respective merchants to deliver meals to the identified dormitories directly. The delivery of meals will be sponsored by uParcel, an on-demand 24/7 courier service in Singapore.
