New dramas to add to your ‘To Watch’ list

Korean dramas have been a saving grace for many of us over quarantine. Like you, we’ve counted our quarantined nights in K-Dramas series and our weekends in Korean movies. If you’ve finished most of K-Dramas on Netflix, we’ve pulled together a list of dramas that are set to premiere from June to August of 2020.

    1. My Unfamiliar Family (June 1)

If you’re stuck with your family over quarantine, this might be a good series to watch together! My Unfamiliar Family talks about what makes a family - a family. Kim Eun Hee, a woman in the middle of adulthood, finds herself confiding in her friends for advice on life and love as her family drifts apart. However when things take a life-altering turn, Kim Eun Hee is about to find out whether blood really is thicker than water.

    2. Backstreet Rookie (June 12)

For fans of light-hearted romantic comedies, Ji Chang Wook will be back on your screens to charm you in Backstreet Rookie, premiering on 12 June.
Choi Dae Hyun (Ji Chang Wook) runs a small convenience store, and is looking for a part-time worker to work the night shift. Much to his surprise, a troublemaker he had once bought cigarettes for four years back, applies for the job and things take an interesting turn.

    3. It’s Okay Not To Be Okay (June 20)

Who else can’t wait to see Kim Soo Hyun back on their screens? ‘It’s Okay Not To Be Okay’ is the actor’s first drama since being discharged from the military last July, and we’re sure it’s worth the wait!
The story follows Moon Kang-Tae (Kim Soo Hyun), who works in a psychiatric ward, and Ko Moon-Young (Seo Ye-Ji), a children’s book author with an antisocial personality disorder. Though both doubtful of love, when their worlds collide, something magical forms between the two.

    4. Men are Men or That Guy, Is The Guy (July 6)

The official English title hasn’t been released for Hwang Jung-Eum’s newest drama. Though set to be released early next month, we have only been graced with the teaser poster and stills as of writing. Nonetheless, we absolutely cannot wait for this love triangle tale as it’s sure to warm our hearts.
In ‘Men are Men’, just as Hwang Jung Eum’s character declares that she plans to remain single, she receives the confession of two men. But who will she end up choosing - Hang Ji Woo, a successful CEO; Park Do-Gyeom, her childhood friend; or herself?

    5. Flower of Evil (July 2020)

Honestly, we would watch any of Lee Joon-Gi’s dramas, so we’re especially excited to see him in this new role.
Flower of Evil follows the story of a married couple, Cha Ji Won (Moon Chae-Won) and Baek Hee-Sung (Lee Joon-Gi). Though it may seem the two are happily in love, Baek Hee-Sung is hiding a dark past, one his wife has no idea about. However, one day Cha Ji Won learns of some startling rumours that have her digging through her husband’s past and identity.

    6. When I Was the Prettiest (August 2020)

When has a love triangle failed to make our hearts flutter? And with ‘When I Was the Prettiest’ starring the ever-charming Ji Soo, we won’t doubt that we’ll be immediately hooked to the series.
In the drama, Oh Ye Jin (Lim Soo Hyang) is a simple girl who dreams of an ordinary, but happy life - but it turns out fate has other plans. Instead, she falls for two men, Seo Hwan (Ji Soo) and Seo Jin (Ha Seok-Jin) - who are brothers.

    7. Stranger Season 2 (August 2020)

If you have yet to binge Stranger, or Secret Forest, now is the time to do so! The second season of the highly acclaimed crime drama is set to premiere sometime in August of this year, including the original cast. We’re sure this season will be just as exciting as the first as Prosecutor Hwang Shi-Mok and Detective Han Yeo-Jin unravel the truth about a hidden case.

    8. Love Alarm Season 2 (August 2020)

Netflix’s Love Alarm received a lot of rave for its first season, and we can totally understand why! The simple, yet charming love triangle made hearts flutter all over the world, and we’re sure season 2 will be even better. In this upcoming season, will we finally find out who Kim Jo-Jo gives her heart to? Stay tuned to Netflix this August!
