After a long and thorough search, the role of Hua Mulan will be played by Chinese star Liu Yifei. The actress has been in Hollywood films like The Forbidden Kingdom and we think her beauty, grace and strength is perfect for the role of Mulan.
The film features a celebrated international cast that includes Donnie Yen as Commander Tung; Tzi Ma as Zhou, Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan; Yoson An as Honghui; Ron Yuan as Sergeant Qiang; with Gong Li as Xianniang and Jet Li as the Emperor.

    What to expect ?

This live-action reimagination of the movie will follow the story we all know and love - a young woman who disguises herself as a male warrior to take her father’s place in battle.
Judging from the trailers released, we are excited to see the epic battle and beautifully choreographed close combat martial arts scenes.

Where are some of the filming locations?

Some 20 locations were used in China, including Hubei province in central China, the so-called Singing Sand Dunes in the Mingsha Shan Desert in Xinjiang Province in thenorthwest, Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park in north central China, FlamebMountain in the north, Mazar Village and Dunhuang and Jiuquan in Gansu province in the northwest, as well as studios in Zhejiang province in eastern China.

What is the scale of the production ?

Over 1000 costumes and 4000 weapons were made for these movie battle scenes! The fight scenes also involved an army of over 100 extras of specialized stunt teams from China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, New Zealand and Australia.

Is there a song that we can sing-a-long?

While many of us remember Disney animated classics for their catchy tunes, this live-action remake of Mulan will not be a musical. Afterall, it doesn’t seem right for a warrior to be singing in a live-action battle.
Instead, we have seen Christina Aguilera’s latest music video for Loyal Brave True, a new song in Disney’s Mulan soundtrack. The pop icon’s powerful vocals is definitely one that we can all resonate with!
