Reviews
The shared city transfer from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng was smooth and well-organized. The departure at 8:30 AM was punctual, and the vehicle was comfortable, though the winding roads might not suit those prone to motion sickness. The scenic views along the route were a bonus, making the 5-6 hour journey enjoyable overall. A great value for money for travelers!
While a van is an option, the train is a far superior choice for getting from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang. Our 6-hour van trip was marred by the rough, bumpy roads, making it a very unpleasant experience.
Driver was on time and made multiple stops along the way for toilet breaks. He was also strategic in planning the pit stops along the way in picking up other passengers. Do note the ride is pretty long and very bumpy, so be sure to come prepared if you are easily prone to motion sickness. Driver is really experienced in navigating those potholes, so that’s another plus side. 👍🏾
Van is clean and not crowded. Driver is polite and ensure everyone is safe since it was quite a long drive.
good driver.. the road was in bad condition. it took almost 5 hours. the car was clean and comfortable.
It takes 6 hours, the seats are tight, and the road is unpaved, so it's difficult, but it's worth it because the air conditioner is cool. Please use the train as much as possible, and use it when you cannot find the train because it is sold out.
If you are a short-term traveler, it is not recommended due to time constraints. It takes about 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours including lunch. However, if you are a long-term traveler, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a meal at a local rest stop while exploring the rural scenery and beautiful mountainous terrain of Laos. There are also Laos people who get on and off the bus, so you can have a new experience....
Beautiful scenery and people collapsing from exhaustion... If you are confident in the six-hour mountain road and unpaved road, give it a try. I'm personally satisfied😏
There were a few issues with this booking. First, our pickup was about an hour late from our scheduled departure time. Also, because the booking confirmation advised to be in the hotel lobby 30 minutes early, we ended up waiting for an hour and a half for our tuk tuk to arrive and take us to the bus station. While the minivan itself was clean and comfortable, the ride on the new (still partially unfinished road) was a bit scary. There was one point where our van got stuck for a minute on a dirt section where the road was running right along a high cliff. Our driver had to back up and I had to tell him to stop afraid that he would go too far and we’d all fall over the cliff to our deaths. Yes, the scenery is beautiful, but getting there safely and alive is a lot more important. Also, as a winding mountain road in many sections, be aware that anyone who suffers from motion sickness might have a hard time with this route. After all of this, the driver gave us another hassle as we were approaching Luang Prabang. He said he’d only drop us at the bus station outside of town (where we’d have to get a tuk tuk on our own) unless we paid him an extra 30,000 kip to be driven directly to our hotel. I insisted that we wouldn’t accept this as the booking voucher clearly states that both hotel pick-up AND drop-off are included in this transfer. I showed him the booking voucher and tried to explain, but he kept insisting that we needed to pay more to be taken to our hotel. When we refused to be dropped at the bus station, the driver said something meaning that he would take us to where he lived. Luckily for us, where he stopped was just around the corner from our hotel and an easy walk for us. Despite that, however, we still shouldn’t have been put through all this trouble and hassling. If you’re looking to take this route (or if we ever do again- we loved both Vang Vieng and especially Luang Prabang), I would probably recommend taking the big bus along the older highway. Yes, it takes longer (6 hours versus 4), but it’s safer, involves less hassle, motion sickness, and I’ve heard is even more scenic.
Thank you for choosing Klook and for taking the time to leave us a review. We're sorry to hear that the driver for the tour didn't arrive according to the booking. Our specialist will be in touch with you shortly. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you.
It was good enough. It’s what you would expect. It’s a curvy ride so if you get car sickness bring something to prevent it. The driver can’t stop the road from being curvy. Made many stops. But also keep in mind the toilets are all squatters.
